Saturday was a stormy one, but none the less the pole vaulting continued without any major hitch. The girls and boys sections ran straight through from lowest to highest and ended at around 3:00 pm pst. The girls went first and Jenna Portis cleared an epic 9′ and tied the Great Oak high school freshman record. Keep in mind that this is a pre-season meet and there is plenty of room for growth for this young lady! Vaulter Club see’s 10′ right around corner with hard work and dedication on her side. Jenna took second place for the JV girls.
Alex Ungrady jumped an outstanding 10’6″ to win the girls portion of the meet and had some sweet attempts at 11′ to start the season. Alex and Jenna both represented the Vaulter Club with outstanding effort and made their schools proud.
On the boys side, Ryan Polakiewicz came in third with a jump of 13’6″ and Asa Martin cleared 12’6″ to take forth in this showdown. Both of these athletes are sure to break some records for their school and jump well throughout the season.
