(Murrieta, California.) What a night for Vaulter Club and Chaparral High school. Chaparral is the high school that both of the coaches for Vaulter Club coach at during the school season. Tonight was the night for the South West League Finals for all six schools in the area. The Vaulter Club kids performed very well with plenty or personal records broken.
Right off the top we have Nick LaPierre pole vaulting for Chaparral High School with a double PR of 14’6, 15′ and wins the South West League Finals. This was a big achievement for Nick and the team with the 15′ jump, Nick became the highest mens pole vaulter the school has ever had. In 2005 the highest jumper was Ryan Utnehmer with a season best of 14’9″ and in 2008 Tyler Wallace went 14’6 for a season best. So needless to say Nick has stepped up and proven that he is more than qualified for the top spot on the team. Results

Asa Martin from Great Oak High School came in second place with a great competition of 14’6″. Asa has battled back and forth with injuries and needed to go big today and go big he did! Showed the kids in the area that he was and is a force to be reckoned with heading up to CIF and beyond.

Allie Gray also from Chaparral high school had a huge PR and came in second place at the South West League Finals with a PR to 11’2″. Allie has had her 77th day of pole vaulting today and continues to impress with another PR and a big second place finish. This also puts her in the number two spot for Chaparral High School for all time. We are gunning for 12 plus throughout CIF and only time will tell how close she will come to achieving that goal. 12’3 school record was jumped by a senior in 2005, as a Sophomore, she has plenty of time to learn the craft and watch the record fall. Let’s go for it kido!

Madison Kast from Murrieta Valley High School came in third place with a PR of 10’8″ and making huge progress as a freshman with a desire to win. Madison also crushed her Freshman record that was 8’4″ for her school. This firecracker came to the club wanting to make Varsity and beat her school record. Now she’s third place in league and jumping 10’8″ and the highest Freshman girl to walk on that campus. Can you imagine what the future has for this young lady!

Maddy Duong from Chaparral High School qualified for CIF with a huge PR break of 10’2 and is pressing on with her post season. Maddy is a asset to the team and the kids loved it when she had a huge PR. Surrounded her with love and excitement and made her senior year at the school that much better. Good job Maddy and big things are coming.

Katrina Meier from Murrieta Vista High School broke her PR and jumped to 10’2″ to proceed to CIF for the first time as a Sophomore. Katrina had some lofty goals as well that she met this season and looks to keep pressing forward with her desire to win. Future of the sport and a huge will to succeed. Keep it up!

Nicole Silverlake from Chaparral high School won the Frosh / Soph division of the South West League with a new PR of 9’8″ beating her personal record from four days prior. Also a freshman and setting the freshman school record at 9’8″ for future pole vaulters to beat. She wanted the record and she achieved the record this year! Good job lefty and now that you vault as a lefty you will soar!

So needless to say we had a great night for the high school and the club as well. We have had an onslaught of registrations for our summer travel teams. Things are about to get interesting for the summer and upcoming fall. We are very excited and hope to see you at the pits very soon.
