On July 3rd, 2021, Vaulter Club celebrated America’s Independence Day they best way that they do, by hosting a big, fun meet. While for many years, the tradition was to host a big team pool party for the athletes around the Fourth of July, for the second year in a row, the Stars and Stripes meet took over that section and it really worked out for the best. With five different athletes getting ten personal records, this seemed to be the meet that many of the team’s athletes have been waiting for to go big.
The youngest vaulter in club, Evelyn took to new heights in her very first official meet. She burned down the runway clearing three personal records. She had cleared 5′ in practice, however the opening height at the Stars and Stripes Meet was 5’06” for beginner girls. She came in made not only 5’6″, but 6′ and 6’6″ as well!
The newest vaulter club athlete, Natalie also had a triple PR day. Having to commute to club everyone was was very excited to see her personal records being broken. This kid is one of (if not, the) fastest athlete we have on the team and she has been really working hard on her form. She will easily be one of the highest vaulters in the state by the time she graduates if she continues down the path she is currently on.
The newest member of the 11′ club, Paige is constantly improving and may be the most steadily increasing vaulter in club right now, though there are many others who are on her tail. Very excited to go to BYU’s pole vault camp next week, this young athlete is now the newest athlete who will recieve a big banner to hang over the facility at our next meet!
Ashley has one goal she is fighting for: to jump 12′ to be able to vault for the Cal State Fullerton team. Going into the Stars and Stripes meet with a PR of 10’6″ and leaving the meet after two PRs, now jumping 11’6, I would say that she is well on her way to accomplishing the dreams that the whole team knows are within her grasp. With massive improvements to her form over the last week, the two PR’s were bound to come and as she continues to work hard, there is no doubt that she will be consistantly jumping over 12′ bars very soon!
Madisyn has been with the club for a number of years now and although she is one of our most veteran athletes, she is the newest member of the 12′ club. She has been ready for quite some time now and she put the pieces all together right at the end of her sophmore year. We are beyond proud of her and all of her accomplishments and we are excited to see where the futre will take her.
